Planting the seed!

Hello, well this is an interesting project from Sean and Anna over at the sub-studio lounge. Named Follow the Leader, artists/illustrators are invited to choose a 'seed' from a selection of 6 and then draw whatever they like to incorporate the 'seed'. I'm not sure why cowboy imagery came to mind with the boot seed I chose but I enjoyed the process-I think I may also make a seamless pattern from this initial design! Check out the project here and you can even vote on what you think...

Emmy's Illustration

It was my niece's 1st Birthday on Sunday and as usual I was leaving things a bit late to head for the shops, so I ended up deciding to do a wee illustration based around her age. It has been hand-drawn with pen and ink and then painted with liquid acrylic to make a bright piece of artwork that I hope she will admire in years to come!

Ice-skating, polar bears, christmas time.

Thought I'd spread a bit of festive cheer with these christmassy banners as well as experiment with a bit of texture!  What do you think? Merry Christmas.

Amy Blackwell

Well here is an illustrator who shares a love of doodling and drawing tea cups and the like. Her name is Amy Blackwell and she is based in Nottingham where is lives, works and plays! Her favourite colour at the moment is lime green, and she likes sewing, reading and the circus. I really enjoy her brightly coloured illustrations in particular the Bunting Polaroid and this Nordic jumper which reminds me of when my Norwegian gran used to give us (make us wear) woolly jumpers for christmas. Enjoy!

Haus Stories

I've been wanting to have the opportunity to do a fuller illustration than just characters and so here is my submission to the Haus Stories Project- set up by Sandra Dieckmann. Artists/illustrators are invited to draw a new storey for one giant house. Having spent some time living in Hong Kong I was used to seeing neighbours washing and paraphernalia hanging from the windows and so used that as a starting point. I think my favourite bits are the stuffed toys especially big ted as he looks like he performing some death defying stunt!
