Fisherman Cat

I was asked recently to paint a cat-the unusual bit was that it was a 15" high concrete cat and one that Aberdonians would recognise as it adorns Union Bridge- the iconic Kelly’s Cats. Ten artists have been asked to customise each cat to help raise money for the Grampian based charity Diced Cap Charitable Trust. They help improve the health and well being of any deserving persons, resident in or connected with the Grampian Police force area. So as you can see in the pics I decided to go for a nautical theme and dressed my cat in fisherman garb! (The North East of Scotland has a high percentage of Fishing folk). It was fun to be able to paint him and make him in my own style- hopefully he'll raise funds for the auction happening mid November.

In between packing and moving boxes into storage I managed to spare a couple of hours to have a go at coming up with a poster for cool Aberdeen venue MUSA. Not sure whether its the winning entry but I had fun coming up with the design- quirky, simple and hopefully eye-catching! See the venue here.

I love it when things you don't plan come together quite unexpectedly & effortlessly! This is what happened when I saw an opportunity tweeted by the lovely Iona Bruce of @Iheartdotdotdot - a collaboration to produce a limited edition zine! I had been wanting to do this very thing for a while and having just completed my I love Tea range it seemed the perfect time to submit my I ♥ TEA card. Along with 12 other talented artists/illustrators Iona put together this lovely edition of I Heart Zines. To buy your very own copy  (edition of 30) and to see the finished piece visit Iona's new website and shop over at http://www.iheartdotdotdot.co.uk/
